Malmenz Malmenz is a graceful and intimate pre-wedding gathering centered around henna and tradition. The day begins at 9 AM when the bride’s mehendi artist arrives to adorn her hands, arms, and feet with intricate, meaningful designs. Three additional artists accompany her to apply henna for guests, who may choose their own designs and pay the artists directly. As the henna is applied, traditional Kashmiri instruments play softly in the background, and women sing beautiful folk songs, filling the space with warmth and cultural charm. The ceremony continues until around 2–3 PM, unhurried and elegant. It concludes with a comforting spread of traditional Kashmiri kehwa served with butter cake and kulcha, followed by lunch shared together in celebration. ✨

Our Mehendi Raat begins at 11 AM with a joyful and playful Haldi ceremony. It’s not a quiet ritual but a burst of color and laughter — pink haldi, cheerful water splashes, and fun games with family and friends. Alongside the teasing and dancing, the beats of the traditional Kashmiri Tumbaknari drum fill the air, setting a lively rhythm. Women gather to sing beautiful Wanwun folk songs, their voices carrying blessings and centuries-old traditions. It’s vibrant, emotional, and full of energy — the perfect, heartfelt beginning to our wedding celebrations.

After freshening up, the evening begins with warm traditions. The groom’s sisters arrive with gold, cake, and thoughtful gifts, symbolizing love and acceptance. In a tender ritual, they apply henna to the bride’s fingertips, marking the start of a new bond. As families dine together having Kashmiri Wazwaan, the atmosphere fills again with the rhythmic sounds of the Tumbaknari and soulful Wanwun songs, celebrating unity through music and dance. From 8 PM to 2 AM, the night transforms into a magical Qawwali gathering — live, powerful, and deeply moving — creating an unforgettable cultural experience. ✨

Our Baraat begins at 2 PM with tradition and grand hospitality. The men are first served the iconic Kashmiri Wazwan — a luxurious 7-course feast prepared by skilled waazas for nearly 300 guests, each dish reflecting rich culinary heritage. Meanwhile, the ladies are welcomed with traditional Kashmiri kehwa, cake, and kulcha. They sing folk songs and play the rhythmic tumbaknari, filling the venue with cultural warmth and celebration. Behind the scenes, the bride prepares for her big day as her makeup artist perfects her look and close family members get ready beside her. Once the men are served, the ladies enjoy lunch. The bride then makes a brief, graceful entrance to greet guests and take photographs before stepping away — a beautiful and emotional moment in the celebration. ✨

Asalatan Nikah & Baraat Night In the evening, the venue is beautifully reset to welcome the groom and his family for the Asalatan and Nikah ceremony. They arrive around 9 PM and are warmly received by the bride’s family. The groom is welcomed with milk and sweets served in silver dishes — a gesture of respect and honor. For the Nikah, the bride and groom sit opposite each other with a veil placed between them. They remain separated until they say “Qubool Hai.” Once they accept the marriage, the veil is lifted, and they see each other as husband and wife for the first time — a deeply emotional moment. After the ceremony, the groom’s family is served dinner while they prepare to take the bride home. During this time, the bride’s sisters playfully steal the groom’s shoes — the beloved ritual of Joota Chupai. He must negotiate and pay them to get his shoes back before finally taking his bride with him, marking the start of their new journey together. ✨
