Pradipta & Puja's story
Back in 2018, I met a guy named Pradipta while prepping for govt exams. I respectfully called him Pradipta dada (because manners), while he was out there having a full-on Bollywood moment—love at first sight and all. I, meanwhile, was just trying not to fail GK. We drifted apart, he got a girlfriend (thanks to my elite-level stalking skills), and life went on. Cut to 2021: I’m jobless, scrolling, and BOOM—dada reappears! He helps me get a job in his office (HR, who?), but suddenly starts talking in riddles, acting like SRK in a plot twist. Day one at work, he PROPOSES… with a song. Like, sir, we were just discussing onboarding documents! Long story short—I said yes. Didn’t plan it. Didn’t expect it. Definitely didn’t think Dada would become Dulha. And now… we’re getting married! Come witness this plot twist live—wedding invite dropping soon!

A Bengali Wedding (Biye)
A Bengali wedding is a beautiful blend of rituals, colors, and emotions. It begins with the Bor Jatri, where the groom arrives with his family and friends, greeted warmly by the bride’s family. 👰 Saat Paak & Subho Drishti – The bride, seated on a wooden stool (Piri), is lifted and carried around the groom seven times, symbolizing their sacred bond. Then, in a magical moment, the couple exchanges glances for the first time in the Subho Drishti ritual. 🔥 Sampradan & Sindoor Daan – The bride’s hand is placed in the groom’s as a sign of acceptance (Sampradan). The ceremony continues with Vedic chants, leading to the most significant moment—the groom applying sindoor (vermilion) on the bride’s forehead, marking her as his wife. 💞 Bashor & Biday – Post-wedding, the couple enjoys playful banter in Bashor, followed by an emotional farewell (Biday), as the bride leaves for her new home, welcomed by the groom’s family. A Bengali wedding is a mix of sacred traditions and Joy.

Vidai
In Bengali culture, biday isn’t just a farewell — it’s a passing of time, of identity, of roles. A daughter becomes a wife. A girl becomes a woman walking into a new family, carrying love, values, and the flavor of the home she just left. But even as she leaves, she doesn’t truly go. Her laugh still echoes in the corridors. Her childhood still sits on the staircase. And her love — that never leaves. Because a Bengali meye doesn’t just say goodbye — she leaves behind a thousand little pieces of herself that bloom every time someone remembers her smile.

Reception (Bodhu varan)
The Bengali reception (Bou Bhaat) is a post-wedding celebration hosted by the groom’s family to introduce the bride to friends and relatives. 💛 Bou Bhaat (Bride’s First Meal) – The bride is formally welcomed into her new home with a special meal prepared by her in-laws. Traditionally, she offers payesh (rice pudding) as a gesture of love. 🎉 Grand Reception – In the evening, the couple dresses in traditional attire—the bride in a stunning saree and the groom in elegant wear—as they greet guests. 🍽 Feasting & Festivities – The event is filled with laughter, well-wishes, and a lavish Bengali feast. Unlike the wedding, there are no rituals—just love, joy, and celebrations! It’s a night of togetherness, marking the couple’s first steps into their new journey!
