Galeti & Sowmya's story
Hi there! We’re Sowmya & Harish, two souls bound by a story that began long before we even understood what love truly meant. Ours is not just a wedding; it’s a celebration of fate, patience, and a childhood promise kept silently in the heart, and we’re so excited to invite you to our wedding! Our journey wasn’t easy. Convincing two big Indian families that love born in childhood and blossomed over the years was meant to be, took time, faith, and a whole lot of sweet rebellion. After lots of fights, love, and convincing our families, we're finally getting married! We’d love for you to experience our vibrant South Indian wedding—filled with dance, rituals, delicious food, and warm-hearted celebrations. Whether it's joining the groom’s baraat, getting mehendi on your hands, or just soaking in the joy around, you’ll be part of something truly special. Come for the culture, stay for the love. We can't wait to share our big day with you! ❤️
With love,
Sowmya & Harish

Get ready to dive into one of the most joyful and colorful rituals of a South Indian wedding — the Haldi ceremony! On this day, we’ll be celebrating with laughter, turmeric, flower showers, and music as our families lovingly apply a turmeric paste to the bride and groom. It’s said to bless the couple, give their skin a golden glow, and ward off bad energy — but most importantly, it’s a chance for everyone to get playful and messy!
Expect vibrant yellow outfits, fresh flower decorations, traditional songs, and the warmest welcome into our culture. You might even end up with a bit of turmeric on you — all part of the fun! Come join us for this heartwarming start to the wedding festivities!
Mehendi
Mehendi Night – Simple Moments, Lifelong Memories 🌿
Our Mehendi celebration is all about love, laughter, and togetherness. We’re keeping it cozy and real — a sweet night gathering with close family, where hands will be adorned with beautiful mehendi designs, and hearts filled with joy.
There’ll be music, dancing, and lots of giggles, as everyone teases the new couple and shares stories from the past. One of our favorite parts? Sitting under the stars, listening to our grandparents recall the golden days of their own married life — stories that make you smile, and sometimes even tear up.
It’s not about big decorations — it’s about big feelings. And we’d love for you to be part of this authentic, soul-soothing experience.
Come vibe with us, get a little mehendi on your hands, and make memories that feel like home. 💚

Pelli pandiri
🌿 Pelli Pandiri – Building Tradition with Laughter & Love 🌿
As the sun rises, the home comes alive with excitement for our Pelli Pandiri — a cherished South Indian ritual where we build the wedding canopy (pandiri) right in front of the house, with everyone pitching in, laughing, and creating something beautiful together.
The morning begins with the boys heading out to gather mango leaves, coconut fronds, and wooden poles, while the girls sit together weaving vibrant floral thoranams by hand. It’s not just a ritual — it’s a celebration of teamwork.
We all come together for the first pooja, setting the first pole with prayers. Then the fun begins — decorating the pandiri with banana stems, flowers, green leaves, and lights, while teasing and chatting.
Others get busy preparing for the next wedding event — it’s a perfect blend of tradition, teamwork, and joy. Travelers will get to witness the real essence of a South Indian celebration.
Pelli Kuthuru/ pelli koduku
In this beautiful tradition, the bride and groom are celebrated separately in their homes, transformed into the radiant Pelli Kuthuru and Pelli Koduku. The morning begins with a sacred turmeric ritual, where family, friends, and neighbors lovingly apply turmeric paste to their skin, symbolizing purity, protection, and glowing beginnings.
Then comes the stunning Mangala Snanam — colorful, flower-infused water is poured through a traditional sieve over their heads. It's joyful, emotional, and cinematic — with every splash, a blessing.
After the ritual bath, they’re dressed in traditional bridal attire by their bridesmaids and groomsmen, glowing with charm and tradition. Once ready, they sit gracefully to receive blessings from elders, surrounded by heartfelt songs, floral showers, and the soothing touch of gandham applied on their cheeks.
The air echoes with the rhythm of mangalavadhyam, creating a soulful and unforgettable moment.
Bhaarat
🥁 Bhaarat – A Joyful Journey to the Wedding Venue 🥁
The real party begins as both families make their way to the wedding hall with music, dancing, and endless joy! The bride’s family arrives first, ready to welcome the groom’s side with open arms and playful rituals.
One of the highlights? The Kaasi Yatra — where the groom pretends to renounce marriage for spiritual life, only to be lovingly convinced by the bride’s family in a humorous twist to tie the knot.
The groom then offers a symbolic gift to the bride’s brother — a heartfelt gesture of love and respect.
With laughter, cheers, and two families becoming one, this is where the wedding spirit truly comes alive. Get ready to dance, witness centuries-old traditions with a fun twist, and be part of unforgettable moments!

Vakkaku Shastram
🌸 Vakkaku Shastram – A Promise of Love Between Families 🌸
Following the lively Sangeet, we gather for Vakkaku Shastram, a cherished tradition that marks the coming together of two families. In this beautiful ritual, both sides exchange fruits and new clothes as a symbolic gesture of bonding, trust, and mutual respect.
The bride performs a sweet ritual — offering betel nuts to her mama (maternal uncle), promising love, prosperity, and care. Laughter fills the air as both families lovingly tease each other, sharing stories, giggles, and playful jabs.
It’s more than a ceremony — it’s a warm, emotional moment where two worlds unite with tradition, joy, and heartfelt promises. 💛
Nalugu
🌼 Nalugu – A Golden Glow of Love & Blessings 🌼
Nalugu is a beautiful and vibrant South Indian tradition where the bride and groom are adorned with turmeric — symbolizing purity, protection, and glowing beginnings.
The ceremony begins with the groom’s family bringing sacred turmeric to the bride’s home, where everyone gathers to lovingly apply it to her in a joyful, traditional way. The same ritual follows at the groom’s place next.
Finally, in a heartwarming moment, the bride and groom come together for the third Nalugu — surrounded by family, laughter, and golden hands of love. Elders shower them with blessings, songs, and smiles, marking this as one of the most emotional and joyful pre-wedding events.
It’s a gentle celebration of togetherness, tradition, and glowing futures. ✨

From Kanyadanam to Thali Kattadam, from the playful Biyyam Poyadam to the soulful Sapthapadhi, each ritual carries deep meaning — witnessed in smiles, tears, and divine chants. The bride and groom, dressed in traditional white and red attire, step into a new life as husband and wife.
It’s not just a ceremony, it’s an experience — one that words can't fully capture, but hearts will always remember. 🌺✨
Welcoming Home
🏡 Homecoming – A Joyful Welcome to a New Beginning 🎉
As the newlyweds arrive at the groom’s home, they’re met with laughter and playful teasing at the doorstep by the bridesmaids and groomsmen. To step inside, the groom must offer a gift to those holding the welcoming haarathi — it’s tradition with a twist of fun!
Once welcomed in, the bride lights the pooja room lamp, marking her graceful first step into the home with positivity and blessings. Amid the joyful chaos, someone — usually the bride or her squad — sings a traditional tune, adding emotion and celebration to this beautiful entry.
It’s the first page of their new life together — lit with love, laughter, and sacred beginnings. 🌸🪔
Evening Nalugu
🌿 Evening Nalugu – A Playful Celebration of Togetherness 🌿
As the sun sets, the bride’s home lights up once again to welcome the newlyweds for a second round of Nalugu — now as husband and wife. Friends, neighbors, and close relatives arrive bearing fruits, sweets, and clothes to bless the couple.
The bride and groom sit side by side as elders apply ghandham (sandalwood paste) to their cheeks and ask them to feed each other sweets, symbolizing love and care.
Then comes the fun! A light-hearted debate begins — "Who'll handle diaper duties? Who’s doing the cooking?" followed by a ring game in a pot of water and stones — whoever finds it first wins!
It ends with laughter as both teams exchange funny garlands like chillies or biscuits, and the couple is finally sent to a beautifully decorated room for their first quiet moment together. 💛✨
