Bhushan & Saritha's story
Join us for a unique three day wedding celebration in Mumbai as we bring together two beautiful cultures of India. I am a Maharashtrian and my bride is from Kerala, so our wedding will be a wonderful blend of traditions, customs and celebrations.
Our wedding will include a peaceful Buddhist ceremony led by monks, along with the vibrant Mehendi, Haldi and Sangeet festivals. We'll be serving delicious vegetarian food throughout the celebrations.
Whether you're familiar with Indian weddings or experiencing one for the first time, we'd love for you to be part of this special occasion. Come celebrate love, family, culture and the coming together of two traditions. We look forward to sharing this unforgettable experience with you in Mumbai!
Day 1Thursday, October 15, 2026Thane
Starting time (approximately): 12:00 PM (noon)
Venue and host contact details will be disclosed upon booking.
Mehendi (Henna ceremony)
Welcome to the first celebration of our wedding journey! In many Indian weddings, the bride and groom celebrate Mehendi separately, but we’ve chosen to celebrate it together, so all of our loved ones and you can enjoy the occasion with us. A henna artist will create intricate Mehendi designs on the bride’s hands and feet, while every guest is welcome to have beautiful henna applied to their own hands as a special keepsake. It’s a relaxed afternoon filled with conversations, laughter, music, and delicious vegetarian food. Whether you choose a small design or something elaborate, you’ll take home a beautiful memory of celebrating with us as our two families and cultures come together.
Day 2Friday, October 16, 2026Thane
Starting time (approximately): 6:00 PM
Venue and host contact details will be disclosed upon booking.
Haldi ceremony
The Haldi ceremony is one of the most joyful and heartfelt traditions of our wedding. We’ve prepared a special paste made with turmeric, sandalwood, coconut milk, Multani Mitti (Fuller’s Earth), and rose water, ingredients traditionally believed to cleanse, nourish, and brighten the skin while symbolizing blessings, protection, prosperity, and a fresh beginning for the couple. Our family and friends will lovingly apply the paste to both of us and yes, you’ll be invited to join in too! Since we’re celebrating everything together rather than separately, everyone gets to share in the laughter (and expect us to end up completely covered in yellow!). Wear something you don’t mind getting a little messy, and come ready for a celebration full of smiles, music, and great vegetarian food.
Sangeet
After all the ceremonies, it’s time to let loose! The Sangeet is our big celebration before the wedding a night dedicated to music, dancing, and bringing everyone together. Our families have been preparing performances, but once the DJ starts, the dance floor belongs to everyone. Whether you’re an experienced dancer or have two left feet, we hope you’ll join us. This evening is especially meaningful because it’s where our Maharashtrian and Keralite families truly come together, and we’d love for you to be part of that blend of cultures. Enjoy great music, delicious vegetarian food, and an unforgettable night celebrating love, friendship, and new beginnings with us.
These feel much more like an invitation from you rather than an explanation of Indian traditions.
Day 3Sunday, October 18, 2026Thane
Starting time (approximately): 10:00 AM
Venue and host contact details will be disclosed upon booking.
Wedding Ceremony
Our wedding ceremony is a special celebration of our love, traditions, and the coming together of two cultures. Held in the presence of Buddhist monks and prayers, the ceremony will follow a Maharashtrian Buddhist style, reflecting our heritage and values.
A unique part of our wedding is that our engagement and wedding ceremonies will take place together, allowing our loved ones to witness both milestones in one meaningful celebration. The ceremony will include the exchange of rings, Varmala, and the Mangalsutra ceremony as we begin our journey together.
Adding to the beauty of the occasion, the bride’s side will bring elements of South Indian tradition through their attire, creating a beautiful blend of Maharashtrian Buddhist and South Indian cultures.
For our guests travelling from different places, we hope this will be a memorable experience an opportunity to witness a wedding that is personal, cultural, and truly unique to us.
Reception
Join us for an evening of celebration as we continue our wedding journey with our family and friends. Our reception will be a joyful gathering filled with traditional attire, music, delicious food, photography, and heartfelt blessings from our loved ones.
This celebration brings together the colours, traditions, and warmth of both our families, creating an experience that reflects who we are as a couple. It will be a chance to relax, enjoy great conversations, capture beautiful memories, and celebrate this new beginning with us.
For our guests travelling to be part of our wedding, the reception will offer a glimpse into the joy and hospitality of an Indian celebration, while being uniquely shaped by our own cultures and story.
