Prajwal & Tanushree's story
Our story began when we were teenagers, thanks to a common friend and a little bit of courage. When Prajwal first saw me, he asked for my number—and yes, I gave it to him. That very same day, he called, and we spoke for hours. By the end of the conversation, he asked me to be his girlfriend. I said no… for three days. Eventually, I said yes—young, clueless, and slightly influenced by the fact that all my friends had boyfriends too (teenage logic 😅). What started as an innocent teenage love slowly grew into something truly special. We grew up together, learning life side by side. In almost 14 years of togetherness, neither of us dated anyone else—we simply chose each other, every time. I don’t know when it became serious; it just did. I never felt like I was with a “boyfriend,” but always with my best friend. Today, with full hearts, we’re ready to take the next step and begin this beautiful new chapter together, surrounded by our closest family and friends.

Mehendi
Mehendi Shastra is the traditional ritual of applying henna to the bride’s hands and feet before marriage. Though mehendi is more elaborate in North India, it is also meaningful in South Indian cultures, especially among families influenced by regional and Vedic customs. The ceremony is usually held a day or two before the wedding and symbolizes beauty, joy, and spiritual protection. Applying mehendi is believed to bring good fortune, ward off negative energy, and bless the bride with prosperity and marital happiness. Elders apply the first paste as a blessing, and Indian music and dance during the ritual. The deep color of the mehendi is popularly associated with love and a strong marital bond, making the ceremony both sacred and celebratory.

Ganga Pooja
Ganga Pooja is the first and most sacred ritual in a Kannada marriage, performed to invite purity, divine blessings, and positive energy into the wedding home. This beautiful ceremony is a way of welcoming Goddess Ganga, seeking her grace to cleanse the surroundings and the hearts of everyone present. It sets a peaceful foundation for the days ahead, ensuring that the entire wedding begins on an auspicious and spiritually uplifting note. Families often decorate the space with fresh flowers, lamps, and fragrant turmeric water, creating a serene atmosphere for the ritual.
Haldi
Next, the vibrant Haldi ceremony takes place according to shastra. A paste of turmeric, sandalwood, and rose water is applied to both the bride and groom. This ritual represents beauty, purity, and protection from negative energy. The golden glow of haldi is believed to bring luck and radiance to the couple as they prepare for their big day. Family members playfully apply haldi, share light-hearted moments, click pictures, and create memories filled with love and fun. Together, all these rituals highlight the rich culture, values, and emotional beauty of a traditional Kannadiga wedding. They bring families closer, fill the home with positivity, and mark the beginning of a new journey with blessings, joy, and togetherness.
Bale Shastra
After this, the traditional Bale Shastra is performed, which holds deep cultural significance. This ceremony is especially dedicated to the bride, blessing her as a sumangali and praying for a long, harmonious married life. Elders tie bangles to the bride with love and blessings, symbolising prosperity, fertility, and lifelong happiness. During Bale Shastra, women from both families join together, singing folk songs, clapping, dancing, and celebrating the moment with joy. This brings warmth, laughter, and unity, turning the ritual into a heart-warming gathering that strengthens family bonds.

Mangalya Moohurtham
The second day of the marriage begins with the most sacred and awaited moment — the tying of the Mangalya. As the groom ties the Mangalya around the bride’s neck, the atmosphere fills with blessings, chants, and the sound of auspicious music. This single moment transforms the couple into husband and wife, marking the beginning of a new chapter filled with love, trust, and togetherness. Elders shower them with heartfelt blessings, praying for their prosperous future, harmony, and strength through every phase of life.
