About the hosts
RHUSHIKESH & Vaishnavi's story
We are Rhushikesh and Vaishnavi. I’m 29 (turning 30 this August!), living in Edinburgh working in healthcare operations with an aerospace engineering background. Vaishnavi is a talented civil engineer based in India
*Our Story
Ours is a modern take on the beautiful tradition of arranged marriage. Our families introduced us, knowing our core values perfectly aligned. Despite the massive distance between Scotland and India, countless hours of video calls sparked a deep connection and true love
*Join Us
Living in the UK, I know an Indian wedding can seem magnificent but overwhelming to outsiders. We want to bridge that gap! We are opening our doors to international guests because joy multiplies when shared. Come experience the vibrant chaos, spectacular outfits, and endless feasts of our culture
In India, we say 'Atithi Devo Bhava' (the guest is God).Joining us, you won't just sit on the sidelines. You'll dance at our Sangeet, witness our sacred rituals, and be welcomed as true friend!

Haldi
The Haldi Ceremony (A Splash of Yellow!)
Get ready for some fun and a little bit of beautiful chaos! The Haldi is a vibrant pre-wedding ritual where family and friends playfully apply a sacred paste made of turmeric, sandalwood, and rose water to our faces and arms. Traditionally, this is done to ward off evil, purify the soul, and give us a radiant "wedding glow." Expect lots of laughter, loud music, and dancing.
A quick tip for our guests: Wear bright yellow to match the theme, and be ready to join in and paint us yellow!
Sangeet
The Sangeet: Our Bollywood Dance Party
The Sangeet (meaning "sung together") is our high-energy, pre-wedding festival dedicated entirely to music, dance, and celebration. The night begins with spectacular, choreographed dance performances by our family and friends. Afterwards, the DJ/Band takes over and the floor opens up for a massive party with endless street food and drinks.
What to Wear
Women: A dazzling Lehenga, a colourful Saree, or your favourite sparkly cocktail dress.
Men: A sharp Indo-Western suit, a Kurta with a jacket, or a classic blazer.
Tip: Wear comfortable shoes! We will absolutely be pulling you onto the dance floor to teach you some Bollywood moves!

Vaidic Marriage Cermony
The Main Wedding (Vaidic Ceremony)
This is the deeply spiritual and sacred event where we officially become husband and wife, guided by traditions that are thousands of years old
*The Sacred Fire (Agni): The ceremony takes place under a beautiful floral canopy (the Mandap) around a holy fire, which acts as the divine witness to our marriage.
*The Seven Vows (Saat Phere): The most important moment of the wedding. We will tie our garments together and take seven circles around the fire, making seven lifelong promises to each other.
This is the most traditional and formal event of the celebration. An elegant Saree, a heavy Lehenga, or a formal Western dress. (Please avoid pure white, black, or bridal red). It is also highly recommended to bring a light scarf or dupatta to drape over your shoulders out of respect for the religious rituals.
A traditional Sherwani, a formal Kurta, or a classic Western suit.
Tip: You will be asked to remove your shoes if you step near the sacred Mandap area
Barat and Marriage ceremony.
This takes place after vaidic ceremony in afternoon.
The Baraat: The groom arrives in a high-energy, musical procession. Grab a drum, join the crowd, and dance your way to the venue entrance!
The Grand Entrance & Garlands (Varmala):the excitement truly begins when we make our grand entrances toward the main stage. Surrounded by all our guests, we will exchange magnificent fresh floral garlands. It is a huge, joyful moment filled with cheering, laughter, and music that signifies we are accepting each other! Guest bless us by throwing 'AKSHADA'(colourfull flowers, rice granuels) towards us.
A large Indian wedding is basically a vibrant festival. With so many people there, there will be constant movement, people catching up, laughter, and a steady flow of incredible food being served while the rituals happen. Please do not feel like you have to stay glued to a chair! We want you to mingle, hit the food counters, take photos, and just soak in the incredible energy.
