Sagar & Susmita's story
It sounds like a movie scene, but it was our reality. A few years ago, while solo traveling through the Andaman Islands, I spotted a girl sitting by the shore, lost in her writing. I approached her for travel recommendations, little did I know I was finding my permanent destination. Fast forward to today: that "Andaman friend" is becoming a wife to the Gujarati boy who used to love solo travel, but now can't wait to start this journey with her. Join us as we celebrate a beautiful fusion of Bengali and Gujarati cultures!

Haldi
The Haldi (or Pithi) ceremony is a joyful ritual where a vibrant yellow paste made of turmeric, sandalwood, and rosewater is applied to the bride and groom’s face, hands, and legs. In a Gujarati wedding, it is a lively family affair filled with traditional songs (Lagnageet) and playful teasing, as loved ones smear the paste to bless the couple with a healthy glow and ward off "evil eyes" before the big day.
Garba
Garba is a high-energy folk dance where family and friends circle a lamp or a statue of Goddess Shakti, moving in rhythmic steps and claps to celebrate divine feminine energy. In a Gujarati wedding, it is an evening of pure celebration where everyone dresses in vibrant Chaniya Cholis and Kediyus to dance together, often transitioning into a fast-paced Dandiya Raas using decorated wooden sticks.
Wedding
A Gujarati wedding is a vibrant blend of deep-rooted Vedic traditions and high-energy festivities, celebrated with immense warmth and hospitality. Key rituals include the Jaimala, where the couple exchanges garlands, and the Saptapadi, where they take seven sacred steps around the holy fire to solemnize their lifelong commitment.
