About the hosts
Jasveer & Carolin's story
We are Jasveer and Carolin, an Indo-German couple in our early thirties. We had our civil wedding in Germany and are now planning our big Indian celebration near New Delhi. We met in Germany through friends, bonded over food, long walks and too many movie nights. We both work in data & AI, so we love nerdy talks and spontaneous adventures. Since part of our family&friends are coming from Europe, we’ve put a lot of thought into making our wedding easy to follow for guests who are discovering Indian culture for the first time. Still, our celebration is traditional—a genuine Indian wedding full of colors, music and rituals: haldi, mehendi, sangeet, baraat and the ceremony, with lots of dancing and food. We’re excited to extend this to curious guests who’d like to experience an Indian wedding from the inside, not as tourists but as part of the family. The resort includes rooms, and we will reserve one for you so you can stay comfortably on-site. Come celebrate with us!

Starting time (approximately): 12:00 PM (noon)

Haldi
The Haldi ceremony is a joyful pre-wedding ritual where a turmeric paste is applied to bride and groom for purification, good luck and that famous “wedding glow”. It’s relaxed, loud and full of laughter. What happens? Family and friends gently (and sometimes not so gently!) smear haldi on us, there’s music, singing, dancing and lots of snacks. Guests may also receive a small dab of haldi as a blessing. Venue note Our Haldi will be by the pool at Botanix Resort. The pool may be in use, but out of respect for local culture please keep your shirt and trousers on and avoid Western-style swimwear. What to wear? Please wear yellow or pink, ideally something light and comfortable that can get a bit messy. Indian outfits are very welcome, and flat shoes / sandals are best.
Mehendi & Sangeet
The Mehendi & Sangeet is a joyful pre-wedding evening of henna, music and dance. The bride will have detailed henna patterns on her hands and arms, and all guests are welcome to get their own designs. We’re combining this with the Sangeet: a musical night with choreographed dance performances from family and friends, singing, and an open dance floor for everyone. Mehendi is a natural dye from henna leaves that stains the skin a warm reddish-brown for a few days. It symbolises beauty, joy and good luck in married life. Expect delicious Indian food, live music, lots of photos and a relaxed, festive vibe. Please wear something green to match the theme – traditional Indian outfits, Indo-Western looks, or a green summer dress or shirt all work well. Flat shoes or sandals are best for dancing and sitting for henna.

Wedding and reception
The Hindu wedding is a colourful, spiritual celebration where two families come together through ancient rituals around a sacred fire. It may feel different from Western weddings, and it’s completely fine to simply watch, take it in and enjoy. We start with the Baraat, where the groom arrives in a dancing procession with dhol (Indian drums) and guests are warmly invited to join. Then comes the Varmala, when we exchange flower garlands. After that we sit under the mandap for the main ceremony: prayers, walking seven times around the sacred fire (pheras) and the sindoor and mangalsutra rituals that mark us as married. We end with a relaxed reception with music, photos, conversations and a generous Indian dinner with many vegetarian options. Expect lots of colour, emotion and joy – and you’ll be right in the middle of it.
