Nikha
The heart of the Nikah is the proposal and acceptance, called Ijab-o-Qubool. The Qazi first asks the bride, in the presence of her guardians and witnesses, whether she accepts the marriage to the groom for the agreed-upon Mahr (dower or gift). The bride must reply three times with the words “Qubool hai” (I accept). This repetition ensures that her consent is free and clear, without any pressure. After this, the groom is asked the same question and he too replies with “Qubool hai” three times. This mutual consent is the core requirement of a valid Islamic marriage, emphasizing that both partners enter the union willingly.
