Dawood & Shehanaz's story
Our Love Story👩‍❤️‍👨
Ours is a story that began in childhood. We’ve known each other since we were kids — he is my dad’s sister’s son, so we would often meet during family weddings and festivals. Even back then, there was a spark — a little childhood crush that quietly grew stronger over time.
In 2015, during my elder sister’s wedding, we met again at the haldi night. That evening, he surprised me with a proposal (on 30th December 2015). We were both in 10th grade, the same age, and still growing up — but something felt right. After thinking about it for two days, I said yes on 2nd January 2016. That’s when our love story truly began.
It’s been 9 years now. Even though we’ve had a long-distance relationship — he’s from Andhra Pradesh and I’m from Chennai — our bond has only grown stronger with time, trust, and love. Now, we’re finally turning this beautiful journey into a lifelong commitment.
We’re so excited to celebrate our big day and be part of our traditional Indian wedding!

Haldi
“The Haldi ceremony is a joyful and vibrant pre-wedding ritual where the bride's family and close friends gather to apply a paste of Haldi (turmeric), sandalwood, and rosewater on the bride’s face, hands, and feet. It’s believed to bless the bride, bring a natural glow, and ward off evil. The event is filled with laughter, playful teasing, and bonding moments. Women often sing traditional songs, apply Haldi, and shower the bride with flower petals. Guests usually wear yellow or traditional Indian attire. In the groom family, when the bride is adorned with metti and patti, it considers that half marriage rituals are completed. It’s an emotional yet festive gathering that marks the beginning of the wedding celebrations.”

Nikha
A Nikah is the Islamic marriage ceremony in Muslim culture, especially among Urdu-speaking communities. It is a religious and legal contract between the bride and groom. The event usually begins with a sermon (Khutbah-e-Nikah) by an imam, followed by the formal acceptance of marriage (Ijab o Qabool), where both the bride and groom say “Qabool hai” (I accept) three times. The bride and groom may be seated separately. A key part of the ceremony is the agreement of Mahr, a mandatory gift from the groom to the bride. After this, the Nikah Nama (marriage contract) is signed by both parties and two witnesses from each side. The ceremony ends with a Dua (prayer) for the couple. Depending on family traditions, a small celebration or meal may follow.
Juluva
Juluva is a special part of a Muslim wedding celebration where the bride and groom make a grand entrance, often separately, to the wedding venue. It is a joyful and festive moment marked by traditional music, vibrant attire, and enthusiastic greetings from family and friends. The Juluva symbolizes the arrival of the bride and groom to begin their new life together. It is a time filled with happiness, blessings, and cultural rituals that honor both families and their heritage.“Juluva is a playful tradition where the bride and groom engage in a fun challenge to meet each other, adding joy and laughter to the celebration.”The atmosphere is lively, with lots of applause, smiles, and sometimes traditional dances, creating unforgettable memories for everyone present.
