About the hosts
Vivek & Dharini's story
Dharini and Vivek first met during a school summer camp in 2010. Their brief conversations left a lasting impression, though life separated them. Two years later, they crossed paths at a car show, sharing a silent but deep connection. In 2014, they reunited at a family party and became Facebook friends. Their bond grew stronger through heartfelt conversations. In 2016, he moved to Australia for his studies, and their relationship endured the challenges of distance through late-night calls and virtual moments. Reunited briefly in 2018, they cherished precious time together. During the 2020 pandemic, Dharini became Vivek’s anchor, helping him navigate the separation. In 2022, they revealed their relationship to their families but faced resistance due to caste differences. Undeterred, they persevered, and by 2023, their families accepted their love. In 2024, they tied the knot, celebrating a love that overcame distance, time, and societal barriers—a testament to resilience and true love.

Ganesh Thapan, Haldi & Mamera
Ganesh Thapan (or Ganesh Sthapana) launches a Gujarati wedding by invoking Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. Families place his idol amid sacred mantras, offering prayers and sweets for a smooth celebration. The Haldi (or Pithi) ceremony involves applying a turmeric-based paste to the bride and groom, believed to purify them and bestow a natural glow. Family members laugh and sing folk songs while lovingly smearing the paste, creating a warm, joyous atmosphere. Mamera highlights the bride’s maternal ties, as her maternal uncle presents gifts—often clothes, jewelry, or sweets—symbolizing support and blessings. Each ritual unites families and enriches the wedding with color, devotion, and cheer. Together, Ganesh Thapan, Haldi, and Mamera embody the soul of Gujarati weddings, merging tradition, love, and celebration, and paving the way for a lifetime of happiness and harmony between two families.
Wedding
A Gujarati wedding is a colorful and culturally rich celebration steeped in tradition, vibrant rituals, and joyous festivities. It typically spans several days, beginning with pre-wedding ceremonies like Sagai (engagement). The Grah Shanti Puja, a prayer for prosperity and peace, sets the spiritual tone for the wedding. On the wedding day, the groom’s Baraat (procession) arrives with music, dance, and cheer. The bride’s family welcomes them with Aarti and Tilak in a ceremony called Ponkvu. The wedding itself takes place under a beautifully decorated Mandap, where rituals like Kanyadaan (giving away the bride), Hasta Melap (joining of hands), and Saptapadi (seven sacred vows around the fire) are performed. It will have lavish vegetarian feasts, featuring dishes like Undhiyu, Fafda, and Jalebi. Post-wedding, fun games like Aeki-Beki bring joy to the newlyweds. The event is a harmonious blend of tradition, love, and exuberance, leaving lasting memories for all.
