Wedding
A traditional Tamil Hindu marriage at a temple involves a series of sacred rituals. The ceremony begins with Ganapathy Puja, followed by Pada Puja, where the bride's father washes the groom's feet. The couple then exchanges garlands (Malai Maatral) and sits on a swing (Oonjal), symbolizing the ups and downs of life. The bride's father formally gives his daughter to the groom (Kanyadanam), and the couple takes seven steps together around the sacred fire (Saptapadi). The groom then ties the mangalsutra around the bride's neck (Mangalya Dharanam), solidifying their union.
Reception
A traditional Tamil Hindu reception at a hall is a grand celebration where the newlyweds are welcomed and honored by their families and friends. The event begins with the couple's arrival, accompanied by music and a procession. They are then greeted with aarthi (a traditional lamp ceremony) and welcomed onto the stage. The reception features various rituals, such as the couple's first meal together (Panniyaram), and the exchange of gifts and blessings from elders. The evening is filled with music, dance, and feasting, as the couple is showered with love and blessings for their new life together.
