BALAJIREDDY & Bhavana's story
Our story is a little different. It began with our families, who saw a future for us before we even saw it ourselves. Our arranged marriage has been a journey of getting to know each other, and with every conversation and shared moment, we've fallen more deeply in love. We can't wait to celebrate the start of our new life together, and we would be honored if you would join us.

Engagement and Mehandi
Engagement Ceremony (Nischitartham)
The engagement ceremony, or Nischitartham, is a significant formal occasion where the two families come together to officially announce the marriage. Held at an auspicious time, the event includes the formal exchange of rings and blessings from elders, solidifying the couple's commitment. It's a joyful affair filled with gift exchanges, heartfelt wishes, and a delicious feast, serving as the official start of the wedding celebrations.
Mehendi Ceremony
The Mehendi ceremony, a lively celebration, is all about color, music, and fun. It's typically held a day or two before the wedding, where the bride gets intricate henna designs applied to her hands and feet. It's believed that the darker the Mehendi's color, the deeper the love between the couple. Friends and female relatives also get their hands adorned, and the ceremony is often filled with dancing, singing, and a celebratory mood, creating beautiful memories for everyone involved.

Haldi and Bride making
The Haldi Ceremony is a more intimate and spiritually significant ritual. A paste of turmeric, sandalwood, and oil is applied to the bride and groom, an act that purifies the body and mind. Turmeric is known for its beautifying and antiseptic properties, promising a radiant glow on the wedding day. This private event is a moment of pure joy and blessings from close family members.
Finally, the Pellikuthuru or "bride-making" ceremony, is an emotional and beautiful ritual. Here, the bride is ceremonially bathed and adorned with traditional attire and jewelry, signifying her transition from a maiden to a wife. Surrounded by the women of her family, she receives blessings and well wishes, preparing her for the final walk down the aisle.

Wedding
A Nizamabad traditional wedding is a beautiful, ritual-filled affair. The day begins with Kanyadanam, where the bride's parents give her away. The most iconic moment is the Jeelakarra Bellam, where the couple places a paste of jaggery and cumin on each other's heads, symbolizing their commitment through life's sweetness and bitterness. This is the moment they are declared husband and wife. The groom then ties the Mangalsutra, a sacred thread, around the bride's neck. Followed by, Appagintalu, a bittersweet moment for all involved. It is a powerful expression of the parents' love and the natural pain of letting go, as well as a joyous welcome for the bride into her new family. This ritual formally concludes the wedding festivities at the bride's home, after which she departs with her husband to begin her new life.
