Karnvir & Ameek's story

Shagun
Shagun is a traditional Punjabi ceremony where the bride’s family gives blessings and gifts—like sweets, clothes, and gold—to symbolize love, respect, and good fortune. In our wedding, the Shagun will take place right after the Bhog of Sukhmani Sahib, a peaceful Sikh prayer that brings blessings and positivity to the couple’s new journey. It’s a beautiful moment when families formally express their joy and support for the union. You’ll witness meaningful traditions, warm gestures, and shared happiness
Maiyan / Jaggo
Maiyan and Jaggo are two joyful pre-wedding traditions in Punjabi culture, held the evening before the wedding. Maiyan involves applying a turmeric paste (vatna) to the groom to bless them and give a natural glow. It’s filled with music, dancing, and laughter as family and friends join in. Right after, we celebrate Jaggo, a high-energy night event where relatives carry decorated pots (gaagar) with candles and dance through the streets, announcing the wedding. It’s all about loud music, vibrant outfits, and non-stop dancing.
Wedding
The wedding day begins early with vibrant energy and deep tradition. The groom arrives in a procession called the Baraat, dancing with family and friends before being welcomed by the bride’s side. This is followed by the Anand Karaj, the Sikh wedding ceremony held in the Gurdwara. The couple sits before the Guru Granth Sahib and walks around it four times, symbolizing their spiritual union and shared journey. The ceremony is peaceful, meaningful, and rooted in love and equality. Afterward, guests enjoy a delicious lunch and share blessings with the couple.
Reception
The reception is our final wedding celebration—a night full of laughter, speeches, dancing, and unforgettable memories. It’s a chance for us to relax, celebrate with friends and family, and thank everyone who joined us on this special journey. Expect great food, lively music, and a packed dance floor! The atmosphere is more modern and festive, with less tradition and more party vibes. Dress to impress, bring your dancing shoes, and get ready for a joyful evening as we kick off married life in true Punjabi style—loud, colourful, and full of love!
