About the hosts
Bharath & Poornima's story
We met at a community wedding where she accidentally collided with me. Later we found ourselves seated next to each other at the same table. We struck up a conversation and realized we had a lot in common, from our love of travel to our shared interest in business. I own a delivery business and she is pursuing her Master's in Dietician and Nutrition. I am 33 years old and she is 27. Our wedding is a celebration of love and friendship, a reflection of who we are as individuals and as a couple, and the beginning of a beautiful journey together. Your presence would mean the world to us and we promise you a wedding filled with love, joy, and unforgettable memories. Let's make this day one to remember, together. We hope you can join us on our special day and be a part of the love and joy that surrounds us. As the saying goes, "Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies" – we invite you to witness the union of two souls becoming one at our wedding.

Haldi
A haldi ceremony is a pre-wedding ceremony in Indian weddings where the bride and groom apply a paste of turmeric, sandalwood powder, and rose water for a cleansing ritual. Using turmeric and sandalwood is like giving your skin a boost because they're good at fighting inflammation and germs. All the family members and friends get a chance to join in the joy and apply haldi to the couple. The fun part is everyone showcasing their amazing dance moves, the lively Bollywood tunes playing, and the rhythmic beats of the dhol making the whole ceremony even more delightful! It's a celebration full of love, tradition, and lots of happy moments! We choose to do the Haldi function combined for both the bride and the groom, for double madness and fun!
Mehendi
The Mehendi ceremony is a fun-filled, nostalgic sit-down for the bride, her cousins, siblings, friends, aunts, and others. This is their day, filled with fun, laughter, songs, dances, and games as each sits down for a dollop of Mehendi over their hands and feet. A Mehendi ceremony is an emotional Shringaar ceremony, aimed at ritualistically beautifying the bride and groom and preparing them for their wedding day. The Mehendi ceremony is an entertaining day, with song and dance performances while the women's relatives vie to get the latest henna designs on their hands and feet. Held in a colorful Mehendi function venue, it requires a specially curated Mehendi song playlist, choreographed dance performances, and comfortable clothes. We choose to do the Mehendi function combined for both the bride and the groom, for double madness and fun!

Marriage
On this day, the Dibbana (bride's side) will arrive at the marriage venue and they will be received by the groom's side. The bride will be given a new Saree by the groom's side for the wedding ritual. Various rituals associated with the custom will be performed followed by the groom tying Karimani around the bride's neck and the marriages are completed with Dhare da karma where bride's hands are kept on the groom's hand and then water is put on their hand. At last, there will be 'Dompa Japaduvan' and 'Ponnu Occhid korpina karma' with which marriages conclude. 'Dompa japudavun' means the conclusion of the marriage and 'Ponnu occhid korpini' means handing over the daughter to the groom and his family. The marriages are simple, unique, and filled with lots of love and affection. That is the reason why marriages are believed to last long in Tuluva traditions. So our relationships are said to be made in Heaven!
