Haldi and Mehandi
The Haldi and Mehendi functions are pre-wedding ceremonies in Indian Hindu weddings, filled with vibrant traditions, music, and joy. Haldi Ceremony The Haldi ceremony is a ritual where a turmeric (haldi) paste mixed with rose water, milk, or sandalwood is applied to the bride and groom by their family and friends. It is believed to bring good luck, purify the skin, and ward off evil spirits. The event is usually an intimate gathering with fun, laughter, and traditional songs. Mehendi Ceremony The Mehendi function is a festive celebration where intricate henna designs are applied to the bride’s hands and feet. Friends and family members also get Mehendi applied. This event is filled with music, dance, and joyful moments. The darker the Mehendi stain, the more it is believed to signify love and prosperity in the marriage. Both ceremonies are an essential part of Indian Hindu weddings, symbolizing happiness, purity, and the beginning of a new journey.

Marriage (Wedding)
Wedding Day Rituals – The main ceremony starts with the Baraat, where the groom arrives with a procession. At the Mandap (wedding altar), the bride and groom exchange Jaimala (garlands). The Kanyadaan (giving away of the bride) and Mangal Pheras (circling the sacred fire) signify their union. The groom applies Sindoor (vermillion) and ties the Mangalsutra (sacred necklace), sealing the marriage. Post-Wedding Rituals – The bride bids farewell in the Vidaai ceremony and arrives at her new home, where Grihapravesh (welcoming the bride) is performed. Each Hindu marriage is deeply rooted in tradition, symbolizing love, duty, and lifelong commitment.
