Nikah is the religious ceremony required by Islamic law to unite a Muslim man and woman in holy matrimony. This ceremony holds an important place of honor among many families, even if they ascribe to more Western philosophies regarding marriage.

Walima is the wedding reception banquet, is the second of the two traditional parts of an Islamic wedding. The valima is performed after the nikah or marriage ceremony. It designates a feast in Arabic. The valima is used as a symbol to show domestic happiness in the household post-marriage.[1] As per sharia, the valima only takes place where the groom resides (which is also the new location for the bride).
